Published in 1940 by James D. Vaughan Music Publishing. They hold all the legal copyright. The songwriters were paid a flat fee. The John Daniel Quartet was one of this gospel publishing company's traveling quartets. Their job was to go and perform the Vaughan songbook compositions for free. They even became a regular act on the Grand Ole' Opry. One of their members was Gordon Stokes, later with The Jordanaires.
