Recorded in Seville by Radio Nacional, Madrid during Semana Santa while the statue of the sorrowful Virgin is carried through the streets at the head of the procession. At designated stopping points (pasos), bystanders like this one start singing saetas spontaneously, thereby lamenting the death of Christ and the pain of the mother. Reissued in the Spanish Collection of the Alan Lomax series on Rounder.
