The first piece he wrote after a nervous breakdown following the bad reception of his first symphony. He was cured through hypnosis and so he dedicated this second piano concerto to his medic. Published in 1901. Oldest recording by the author at the piano with Leopold Stokowski and the Philadelphia orchestra, Victor's first attempt to record a full concerto (solist and orchestra), even if electrical recording facilities (with microphones) weren't available yet.

The first movement of this Piano Concerto (Moderato, first recorded in 1929, again with Leopold Stokowski and Rachmaninoff, was covered by Tommy Dorsey in '41 as I Think Of You; vocal: Frank Sinatra.
