Daddy G was saxophone player Gene Barge, featured on all US Bonds' hits. His own group, The Church Street Five, scored an instrumental bubbling under hit with A Night With Daddy 'G', where his labelmate Gary US Bonds wrote lyrics for. He sings the title somewhere in Quarter To Three. The recording of Quarter To Three took place during the party celebrating Gary's first hit New Orleans. The entire Church Street Five, including Legrand label boss Frank Guida, provided the live atmosphere. Their enthousiasm helped make Quarter To Three America's summer hit of '61, a gimmick avidly copied in Chubby Checker's Dancin' Party, Dion's Runaround Sue (see there), The Beach Boys' version of Barbara Ann, Trini Lopez's If I Had A Hammer and in practically the entire canon of James Last.
