In the linernotes to the International Submarine Band's only lp, Don Everly wrote: "Nashville needs to get some fresh air" and "What would happen if this group did the Opry?" Long hair and a drummer in the line-up kept 'em off that stage. Six months later The Byrds came to town to cut their Sweetheart Of The Rodeo album, with Gram Parsons. They got a haircut, suit & tie and some Merle Haggard songs and made Opry history.
