Artist: Dan Daniels
Author: Jerry Leiber/Mike Stoller
Label: Epic
Year: 1968

Introduced by English Georgia Brown in 1966 for the BBC but no recording was made. Dan Daniels is a New York DJ asked by Epic to voice-over an existing basic track. Leiber & Stoller objected. They'd tried to pitch their composition to Marlène Dietrich but she declined. Lyrics inspired by a Thomas Mann story from 1896: Enttäuschung (Disillusionment). Parts of the lyrics were literally copied.
