Artist: Joseph Schmidt

His standard encore while touring the lowlands. Tragical singer, therefore immortal. Too small for an international stage career in opera (except for the Monnaie in Brussels), he opted for the reclusiveness of the recording studio, radio broadcasting and later the white screen. He was Jewish, born in Romania in 1904, died in a fugitive camp near Zürich in 1942.
