As The Gaberlunzie Man first published in 1724 in Allan Ramsay's Tea-Table Miscellany - A collection of Choice Songs, Scots and English. Frequently crediting James V, father of Mary, Queen of Scots. It is even suggested king James V is the main subject of this ballad, taking pleasure strolling around incognito as a ragged beggar.
