Artist: Mantovani
Author: Ronald Binge

Year: 1952

As radio transcription entitled Serenade; name change followed the coronation of new queen Elizabeth II in '53. Vocal version: Where The Gentle Avon Flows (choir piece). At the time, author Ronald Binge was Mantovani's arranger, developing his characteristic 'cascading strings sound'. Binge later also wrote Sailing By ('63), long time closing theme for BBC Radio 4. Elizabethan Serenade was used as theme of BBC series Music Tapestry and as play-out for the British Forces Network radio station. Mantovani's recording was finally released in '62 on Guild lp The Golden Age Of Light Music - The Lost Transcriptions Vol. 3.
