The tradition to go from door to door singing for charity during the last days of the year is universal. The hispanic equivalent of souling (see Soulcake) is called La Rama (means The Branch). From Mexico (in wintertime) to the Canary Islands (in August) children beg carrying a decorated branch while singing this song.
