CRY ME A RIVER

Latest update on 30/07/2015

Artist: Julie London
Author: Arthur Hamilton
Label: Liberty
Year: 1955

Written already in '53 to be sung by Ella Fitzgerald in the film Pete Kelly's Blues ('55), but prematurely aborted. Two other songs by Hamilton (He Needs Me and Sing A Rainbow) made the screen as sung by Peggy Lee. The rejected song was later featured in the film The Girl Can't Help It ('56), title track written by Bobby Troup, not by chance, the husband of the singer who made the first recording.
