In tv-show Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. Author Williams sang it six months later (with Nancy Ames) in the same show, inspiring the hit version. Williams was a Texan guitarist, songwriter and scriptwriter for tv comedy series as The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour and Saturday Night Live. He's probably best known for his instrumental hit Classical Gas, recorded the same year.
