(Maria Teresa Vera/Guillermina Aramburu)
(o):Maria Teresa Vera y Lorenzo Hierrozuelo (1950)label: Egrem
Great Cuban trova singer (1895-1965) who died in 1964. Veinte Años was her theme song. For 25 years she and Hierrozuelo formed a couple that couldn't be denied in Havana. Besides, this same Lorenzo Hierrozuelo was also the partner of Compay Segundo in Los Compadres. That's where Compay got his nickname from, being the one who always sang second voice. You could just as well call him second fiddle to Maria Teresa Vera. Actually, the song was written to mark the 20th anniversary of Los Compadres as a duo.
(c):Buena Vista Social Club (1997) [vocal: Omara Portuondo], Omara Portuondo (2000) [she also cut He Perdido Contigo of this same M.T. Vera],

The originals to all Buena Vista Social Club recordings were compiled on the Egrem cd Raices, The Roots Of Buena Vista. The Egrem studio was also the place where most of these older recordings were cut.
